Remember “Pin the tail on the donkey” How would you do in a contest with an unlabeled map with the task of placing the colored pin on Punta del Este, Uruguay? After you adjusted your pin with a regular labeled map how would you do visualizing what Punta del Este, Uruguay would look like? This was our surprise stop. It doesn’t look like or feel like any other country in South America. Speaking of “feeling like,” how about that hand coming out of the beach?

Punta del Este is on a narrow peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Plate River. Fresh water on one side and salt water on the other.

We drove along the coast and into the countryside where we saw dairy and beef farms and vineyards. Beautiful country.

We saw them preparing the Asado barbeque for the evening meal. Our guide kept calling it roast beef.

We felt right at home here with the Kawasaki off road vehicles. The bridge below is is viewed as a national treasure. It is actually twin span. There are two. Seems like enough. The architecture is of homes and apartments is stunning and the equal of anything on our own coastline. We even saw a new Trump Tower under construction. There is big money in this little country.

Back on the ship late afternoon with Punta del Este on the horizon we sailed off into the sunset just like in the movies.

What a wonderful day in Uruguay!  Now we head off to the misty Falkland Islands. Two days at sea and a thousand miles.

Loved the hand at the beach. The bridge looked like a amusement park ride. I wonder how many cars got damaged on that road ?!????
