It was kind of funny. Our guide kept pointing out all the famous people and places associated with Vigo, Spain and I kept thinking, “I had never heard of Vigo, Spain before this cruise.” Fame is in the eyes of the beholder. It was also amusing to listen to the the crew members with Germanic languages roots all pronouncing Vigo as WeeGo.
Vigo claims to be the largest fishing port in Europe for both fresh fish and frozen at sea fish. It is a huge port on the Vigo River which is tidal with a good six foot tide shift twice a day.

photo being restoredWe walked around the streets downtown and visited an estate with beautiful gardens, some of the nicest we have seen on the entire cruise. It was a peaceful relaxing day.

There was an old Russian sailing ship in the harbor dated 1703 which was very interesting to walk around.
