It was about 4 hours to Jaipur and as always I enjoyed the opportunity to see the countryside. We saw more small fields being harvested, many more small brick factories and of course, many small villages.

When we stopped at a rest stop this woman was making bread and let me take her photo.

The way they use bamboo for scaffolding never cases to amaze me. I love all of the ways the Indians use what they have to do what they have to. As Raj said over and over again, “everything can be done”.

Close to Jaipur we took another detour from the itinerary and drove way out of the way to a “monkey temple” which was a monument to some ancient (1000 years ago) person and has natural springs which fill tanks in which pilgrims bathe. We never got to the temple, which was way up the mountain, but the area down below was interesting and full of monkeys and places where pilgrims were staying. As we drove through the village on the way we had to stop for the larger than usual group of cows.

And so we arrived in Jaipur where the Water Palace has resided serenely in the lake for centuries and camels and the elephants are common sights in the streets.
